At this year’s Arnold Sports Festival in Sao Paulo, there were a lot of innovations debuted by major sports nutrition companies, and many of them were coincidentally protein bars. Nutrex’s Brazilian arm got in on the action with the IsoFit Protein Bar, and Dr Peanut introduced the Doctor Protein Bar. The home country competitor, Mrs. Taste, had a bit more than most, bringing three all-new protein bars to the show, and one of them was truly something else.
The brand known for its better-for-you sauces, Mrs. Taste, was sampling and showing off what we’re sure is a first of its kind or the first we’ve seen like it in the garlic bread-tasting Mrs. Salted Protein Bar. The innovation packs 9g of protein per piece with a moderate 21g of carbohydrates, 4.9g of that sugar, 15g of fat, and 247 calories. The macros aren’t anywhere near as lean as the likes of a Barebells Protein Bar or even Grenade Protein Bar, but it is the actual taste and texture of this one that sets it apart and makes it something unique.

Mrs. Taste has genuinely flavored the Mrs. Salted Protein Bar like sweetly salted gralic bread, and no, this is not a prank. The brand has given the functional food a similar build to most bars with a doughy base and coated outer, but again, inside it all is a salty garlic bread flavor. It’s usually all about decadent dessert tastes and treats, except here, where the Brazilian brand is looking to replicate an incredibly familiar, salty, savory food.
The Mrs. Salted Protein bar was launched over the weekend at the South America edition of the Arnold Sports Festival. The brand has added a listing for the functional innovation to its online store, although both the individual and bulk box options of the garlic bread protein bar are already sold out. The product will return at some point, so if you’re interested, be on the lookout.
