Functional beverage brand State jumps into protein snacks with a collagen-based bar

State Protein Bar

The functional beverage company State Energy in Denmark has made a similar move to many others in Europe that specialize in drinks with the reveal and release of a functional food by way of the State Protein+ protein bar. The brand promises a decadent candy bar-style experience across both of its salty caramel-infused flavors. The product comes in the blue-branded Chocolate Caramel, and then you have the more traditional blend with the orange-colored Peanut Caramel.

The nutrition on the State Protein Bar is not your typical protein bar but still reasonable with a moderate 14 to 16g of protein, 23 to 26g of carbohydrates, 2.4g or less of that sugar, 8 to 11g of fat, and a calorie count of 199 for Chocolate Caramel and 216 for Peanut Caramel. Interestingly, there are a few sources from which that 14 to 16g of protein comes from, the primary one being bovine collagen, and the rest is plant-based pea protein and the much more common milk protein.

State Energy has massive distribution of its functional beverages in Denmark, whether we’re talking its signature bottled energy drink or the multi-vitamin offering. That will put the brand and its all-new State Protein+ snack in contact with a lot of retailers and distributors, either way it will be interesting to see how it grows and expands from here, especially with protein bars being a fierce category in Europe.
