The world of ready-to-drink protein has been quickly expanding these last couple of years, with established supplement companies getting in on the space as well as newcomers rolling straight into the quiet category. Raw Nutrition has undoubtedly made a splash, and even Ghost had a run at it, and now it’s time for a competitor older than both of those in MusclePharm. The brand has spun off its signature Combat Protein Powder to create the quick and convenient Combat Ready RTD.
MusclePharm’s Combat Ready Protein Shake is right up there with the likes of Redcon1’s MRE Protein Shake RTD, providing a hefty 40g of protein per bottle. The other macros could be leaner with around 5g of fat, 8 to 11g of carbohydrates, up to 7g of that fiber and 2g sugar, and 220 to 230 calories. The long-running brand has served fans well too, putting quality sources of protein into the Combat Ready RTD, with the 40g of protein from a blend of micellar casein and milk isolate.
We haven’t tasted MusclePharm’s Combat Ready Protein Shake, although in our experience, it’s tough to make one unbearable, especially when you have over 10g of carbohydrates, as you do in this one. Based on that, we can’t imagine this one not coming through with an enjoyable taste and texture in any of its three flavors: chocolate Fudge, Salted Caramel, and Vanilla Ice Cream. MusclePharm’s online store is one of the first places you can grab the Combat Ready RTD at $47.99 for a case of 12, and while that may seem high, it is in line with other beverages with protein up near 40g.
