It has been quite some time since we’ve seen something new and innovative from the team at Halo Top, although there was a period a few years back where we were getting something new and exciting almost every month or so. The frozen functional specialist is getting back into that this month with the introduction of Halo Top Mix-Ins. As the name implies, it is a collection of its signature moderate-protein, better-for-you ice cream loaded with inclusions or mix-ins for the purpose of this product.
Halo Top Mix-Ins aren’t as lean in terms of protein-to-carbohydrate-to-calorie ratio; however, again, they are loaded with bits and pieces that make the sacrifice more than worthwhile. The collection is quite extensive, boasting an impressive eight different options, that have absolutely mouthwatering names and drool-worthy flavor callouts. The menu includes Cookies & Brownies, a decadent Chocolate Fudge Brownie, and Caramel Cookie Crunch with caramel swirls and cookie pieces covered in chocolate.

Other tasty creations available for Halo Top Mix-Ins are a classic Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough, PB Cookie Dough & Fudge with peanut butter ice cream and actual cookie dough and rich fudge pieces, and in Sweet Cream Cold Brew, you get a coffee ice cream with chocolate chunks. The last two tastes are fruit-infused for a sweeter style treat in Strawberry Cheesecake filled with crunchy graham crackers and strawberry pieces and Cherry Chocolate Chunk with cherries and dark chocolate in a black cherry ice cream.
No matter which of the flavors of Halo Top Mix-Ins you grab out of the freezer and crack open to eat, they have 490 calories per pint and still manage to keep the protein as high as the original ice cream, getting up to 20g. The extra bits and pieces do, of course, contribute to the extra sugar, carbohydrates, and in turn, calories, but damn, do they look worth it. The Mix-Ins family has been rolling out to Halo Top stockists this month and make it easy to spot with their extra delicious eye-catching artwork.
