Alpron creates a bubbly protein drink but it has more than twice as many carbohydrates

Alpron Bubble Protein

Alpron in Japan has entered the canned beverage market with a protein-based innovation that infuses a common source of protein and carbonated soda for a clean and convenient beverage to consume protein while you’re out and about and on the move. The supplement is Bubble Protein, as it is a bubbly, fizzy offering, which is not at all common with ready-to-drink protein. The product is not all that large, with a volume of 250ml, although it still manages to squeeze in a fair amount of protein at 8g.

The sources of protein in Alpron’s Bubble Protein are not all your standard dairy ingredients, with mostly collagen and a lesser amount of whey concentrate. Unfortunately, there is a large amount of carbohydrates, more than the protein actually, at 17.7g, thanks to fructose and sugar being the most prominent ingredients in the formula. While Alpron is a health and nutrition company, it hasn’t kept the calories to a minimum in Bubble Protein at 105, and that’s even worse considering it’s a slim 250ml can.

We obviously would’ve liked to see Alpron keep the carbohydartes low, something many beverages that use whey and collagen have done before. That said, the Japanese brand may not have been able to get the flavoring right or something along those lines. Either way, you get more than twice as many carbs as protein, and the product is available now, in Japan, in the one tart and citrusy Lemon flavor.
