HealthFarm debuts its MeFirst protein powder but it comes with a lot of sugar

Healthfarm Nutrition Me First

HealthFarm Nutrition, a retailer and brand in India, has launched a new protein powder under its self-titled line by the name of MeFirst. Protein supplements like traditional protein powder, meal replacements, and high-calorie gainers are intensely popular in that part of the world, and it is something HealthFarm has plenty of. MeFirst is different from its others but not by a huge amount, as its sources are common, its not a supremely lean like most competitors, and has a multivitamin infusion.

MeFirst from HealthFarm Nutrition does say whey protein on the front, and that is the primary source in the supplement, although it also has soy, breaking down to whey concentrate as largest, then soy isolate, and lastly, whey isolate. We’re guessing there is a lot of concentrate as there isn’t a major carbohydrate on the ingredients list that we can see, although every serving has around 9 to 10g of carbohydrates, and almost all of that is sugar alongside a typical 24g of protein and around 1.5g of fat.

A protein-to-carbohydrate ratio like that is closer to a meal replacement than a protein powder, as usually, you want the carbs as low as possible, not only because that is the purpose of the supplement — to get protein — but also so when you buy 2kg of powder, 23% of it isn’t sugar. MeFirst isn’t expensive, which is no surprise looking at the protein content, at ₹3,299 (37.99 USD) for a tub of 50 servings, with four flavors available in Chocolate, Double Chocolate, Mocha, and Caramel Strawberry.
