GAAM adds DigeZyme, BCAAs, and an unknown amount of creatine into its new Active Whey

Gaam Active Whey

Proteinbolaget house brand GAAM Nutrition in Sweden, has been in the protein game for quite some time by way of several formats, including traditional protein powder, various edible protein snacks, and the deliciously smooth GAAM Milkshake. Expanding on the supplement side for the company is now GAAM Active Whey, a dairy-based product that has a bit of extra functionality to it beyond the reliable sources of protein and the muscle-building nutrition profile they bring.

GAAM Active Whey combines whey and milk concentrate, and hydrolyzed whey isolate to provide 28g of protein per serving, around 5g of carbohydrates, most of that sugar, about a gram of fat, and 137 to 147 calories. What makes this one a bit different is that alongside the macronutrients, are a few additional ingredients, including added BCAAs for better recovery, the enzyme blend DigeZyme to support digestion, and the surprising inclusion of classic creatine monohydrate at an unknown amount.

It would have been great to get a dosage of the creatine monohydrate, as there is a huge difference in terms of efficacy if you’re getting a full dose or a sprinkling. Going by the ingredient list of GAAM Active Whey, it doesn’t look like you get a huge amount as the usually reliable strength, growth, and performance ingredient is far down the list. It sits below acesulfame and inulin, and behind probiotics, suggesting it is not anywhere near the full creatine dosage of 5g per day.

Proteinbolaget and GAAM Nutrition have launched GAAM Active Whey in three classic tastes, Chocolate, Vanilla, and Strawberry, and they all come in a moderately sized 900g bag of 26 servings. The price of the supplement isn’t too much more than the straightforward GAAM Whey at 349kr (31.50 USD) but again, it would be nice to know how much actual creatine you get. Being that it’s one of the extra value features that gives Active Whey the premium price, it’s only right that you know how much you actually get.
