The ProPud functional food brand in Sweden did something a bit different last year with its Delicatoboll flavor series. It was a flavor inspired by the similar sounding, traditional Swedish treat, Chokladboll; a combination of wholesome oats, butter, cocoa, coffee, and sugar, all rolled into a bite-sized ball. ProPud recreated that in Delicatoboll, and produced that flavor for three of its popular and always enjoyable protein products in the ProPud Protein Bar, ProPud Milkshake, and the original ProPud protein pudding.
For its first release of the year, ProPud is doing something very similar to Delicatoboll in terms of inspiration and relevance, introducing its Kolakaka ProPud Protein Bar. This is a flavor of the brand’s signature bar-format protein snack inspired by the similarly named Kolakakor, another classic Swedish treat that’s thin and long biscuit featuring a caramel taste. ProPud’s latest has a soft base, a layer of sweet and salty caramel, crispy cookie pieces, a light cream across the top, and wrapped in milk chocolate.
The nutrition profile on the Kolakaka ProPud Protein Bar comes with 17g of protein, the same as you get in the Delicatoboll flavor of the same product, 18g of carbohydrates, under 2g of sugar, 10g of fat, and 218 calories. Most of the functional foods in Sweden tend to taste beyond average, and ProPud’s line is one of the many that goes well beyond the standard. We have to imagine the experience on Kolakaka is another damn delicious outing, especially with all of the tastes and turns it promises are in there.
