Viking Power has had one hell of a year, hence why it was easily nominated for our International Brand Of The Year Award, something it did indeed win one year ago. The Swedish house brand was non-stop very early on in the year, and while it has slowed down since then, it’s only by a pinch, as the innovations have continued to roll out one by one. It was only a few weeks ago we were introduced to Asgard, one of the most premium protein powders you’ll ever come across, at a price of 90 USD.
Viking Power continues its relentless year of innovation and excitement with the reveal and release or re-release of Armageddon, which is indeed a pre-workout but not your traditional balance of stimulants, pumps, and performance. Armageddon is very different from any of the other competitors the company has available, including Thor’s Hammer and the Leviathan. Armageddon is a more endurance and performance-supporting competitor featuring a serving that we’d safely say can not be dry scooped.
Armageddon from Viking Power is a carbohydrate-backed pre-workout, where the first two ingredients on the label are the common carb-sources, maltodextrin and dextrose, at 30g and 10g, respectively. There is also 8g of Palatinose isomaltulose, so while the 75g serving size may be daunting and far beyond any pre-workout you’ll come across here in the US, it’s due to that hefty 48g of carbohydrate components.
Alongside all of that is a host of common and reliable pre-workout ingredients in 5g of pure citrulline and a gram of arginine AKG for pumps, CocoMineral and pink Himalayan salt for hydration and performance, 2g of taurine, and a gram of leucine for recovery support. There are some sensory components in the mix, too, completing it all out and making for a well-rounded pre-workout experience with a hefty 2.5g of tyrosine to enhance mental focus and 300mg of caffeine to increase and intensify energy.
Carbohydrate-packed pre-workouts certainly have their place in the supplement industry, as they work great for endurance exercise, and whether or not that makes sense for you, remember this is one of many competitors Viking Power has in the category. If you want something more gym and workout-orientated, Leviathan is your best bet, and if you want to get great value, Thor’s Hammer is the way. Once again, the Armageddon launched this month is a revamped version of the pre-workout, and you can get it from MM Sports for the same price as before.
