The candy company Mars in the United Kingdom and Europe has made its own line of protein-packed products for some time, including oat-based flapjacks, protein powders, protein cookies, and protein bars that mimic the experience of many of its legendary candy bars. The Mars Protein Bar was one of the first edible items the food giant came out with, and throughout the years, it has evolved with various tweaks and changes, similar to many of its other protein-heightened offerings.
Closing out the year that has been 2024, Mars, or Protein By Mars as it’s referred to sometimes, is relaunching its signature Mars Protein Bar, designed to offer the classic nougat, caramel, and chocolate-covered experience of the original Mars Bar. The brand isn’t really saying what separates this one from the other Mars protein snacks we’ve seen, only that this is something different and completely new, and if we had to guess, it’s probably better than any other variant that’s out there.
The macros on the 2024 edition of the Mars Protein Bar are marginally different, lower in protein in fact, which, more often than not, leads to a better eating experience overall. The newly released product that is now out and available at specialty retailers, has a 10% lower 18g of protein per piece, alongside reasonable carbohydrates and fat, for a calorie count of 201. In graphics, it has all of the tools to provide that Mars candy bar build with a soft and chewy base, gooey caramel, and a chocolate outer.
