As soon as Gorilla Mind launched its most potent and hard-hitting pre-workout to date in Gorilla Mode Lightning, we snatched up two tubs. The formula looked right up our alley, packing an intense blend of stimulants, including just over 500mg of caffeine, 1.5mg of alpha yohimbine, and half a gram of eria jarenesis. It has all the hallmarks of a supplement we need to take for a run, especially with its never-before-seen level of the nootropic tyrosine at a monumental 13.5g.
The dosages in Gorilla Mind’s high-stimulant pre-workout are really what gained it a lot of attention, and while the energy and focus side of Gorilla Mode Lightning is stacked, it does dip into other core effects. Alongside the potent sensory ingredients and effects, it has 8g of straight citrulline and 4g of betaine to enhance muscle pumps, and the quality electrolyte source, pink Himalayan salt, to support hydration, performance, and recovery.
Review
We got our hands on Gorilla Mode Lightning a few months ago and have genuinely been using it a few times each week to get a grasp on it, as there is a bit more to this one than our usual throw down the maximum serving and enjoy the ride. We did initially go straight into the whole serving, there were actually several times we pushed to the maximum; however, on every occasion, no matter the time of day or preparedness, the workout was followed by a very intense and disorientating dizziness.
At first, we thought maybe it just hit that hard or our tolerance was there yet to enjoy the power of Gorilla Mind’s Lightning, although we ended up finding that wasn’t the case. We used this back to back with some other potent pre-workouts, some having more caffeine and alpha yohimbine, and they performed without any post-dizzy feel. We eventually brought the serving of Gorilla Mode Lightning down from its maximum of two scoops to one and a half.
At the one and a half, we ended up having a significantly better workout as well as no off-putting side effects afterward. We did try the pre-workout with several individuals who were used to hefty stimulants, and the dizziness was still present. Lowering seemed the best way to go, although this is the first and only pre-workout we’ve ever lessened due to balance. We’ve had products at 600mg of caffeine and never had anything; however, we feel it could be the tyrosine as that’s the only ingredient we’ve never had at the amount this has.
Either way, if you try Gorilla Mind’s Gorilla Mode Lightning and regardless of your caffeine tolerance, if you throw back the whole serving and have similar issues, try again the next day with a suitably scaled-down serving. It is worth doing that, as when you strike that perfect tolerable efficacy, you will fly. The energy hits, not as hard as 550mg, but it hits, the pumps are undoubtedly noticeable and present, and most impressively, the nootropic effect is unlike anything we’ve had before.
You don’t get a flood or rush of focus and clarity; it is initially the energy by itself. Then, as you progress through your workout, the nootropic side actually builds and gets stronger and stronger. It’s almost like a driving force that hits its peak near the middle of a session; right when you might be digging deep and getting into the back half of your tank, the mental clarity comes flying through. It forces you to think a bit straighter and drive even harder, encouraging you to leave the gym with nothing left.
Summary
After playing around with the serving size of Gorilla Mode Lightning and finding our preferred level of everything, we eventually used it much more frequently and were then able to push its limits and take it through some intense workouts. This is the first time we’ve ever had to go about it like this, where the caffeine or stimulants aren’t too high, it’s too much of a side effect, and it was only felt afterward. Either way, we’re glad we rode it outand got to have fun with the Gorilla Mind supplement, which, at the one-and-a-half scoops, was genuinely top-tier for us with an incomparable nootropic feel.
