Barebells made a pretty significant move last week, but it may have gone under the radar — especially since it’s exclusive — as it has indeed put together a completely new protein bar. This is completely separate from the original legend, the Barebells Protein Bar and even the Soft Protein Bar. The all-new Barebells Chewy Protein Bar has come to market in just the one Christmas-themed flavor, Santa’s Strawberry, featuring sweet white chocolate around the outside and a fluffy, marshmallow-like strawberry body inside.
The latest innovation of Barebells is a smaller protein snack overall, weighing in at 40g a piece and packing 10g of protein; it is the functional food innovator’s lightest protein offering to date; however, that all seems to be in the name of a better eating experience. The Soft Protein Bar has a similar sort of approach, where you get less protein, around 16 to 18g, with the always on-point candy-like tastes, although as you bite through, you learn almost immediately why the product is named the Soft Protein Bar.
The reason Barebells Chewy Protein Bar is important is because this could easily grow into a permanent, ongoing protein snack, as we’ve seen many times before. Several flavors of Barebells’ signature protein bar were originally Christmas drops, like Mint Dark Chocolate, Holiday Puffs now Creamy Crisp, and Xmas Fudge turned Crunchy Fudge. Another interesting fact is that the Soft Protein Bar started as a limited Christmas drop as Nutty Rocky Road Marshmallow Bar, three years later its permanent and has 11 flavors.
Barebells has put out several protein snacks and treats that are no longer available, but it has become much more accurate and successful in recent years. Knowing how good texture can be and how well the brand describes the Chewy Protein Bar, we have a sneaking suspicion this is the next major extension of the brand. Santa’s Strawberry could be a test; either way, get your hands on the brand’s functional creation and give it a try, as it is very different from its other bars and could have its own menu this time next year.
