It is that time of year when we announce the nominees for our various prestigious awards, and this week, we’re going to be dropping them all piece by piece. With the Protein Wars now in full swing as the opening first round is now available to vote on, we thought we’d take advantage of the occasion and reveal the brands in contention for our titles. First up is Functional Brand Of The Year, something Europe has dominated these last few years, with Life Pro and Bombbar each winning it back-to-back.
What we look for in our Functional Brand Of The Year is similar to our other categories, like Newcomer Of The Year and Overall Brand Of The Year, and that is consistent innovation throughout the year. Doing things that stand out, like formats no one is touching or even some of the more difficult shapes and sizes, all within the functional space. Consistency throughout the year is a major aspect, as having hype and excitement from start to finish makes for a much more interesting experience as a fan.

This is all judged by the team at Stack3d and our opinion; so for example, let’s say two brands both did five different protein bars, and that is the standard to judge on; we may pick brand A over B purely because in our minds it had a wider variety of flavors and structures. We look forward to judging the well-deserved nominees for our Functional Brand Of The Year Award, and this will be the sixth time giving it away, with the potential of Life Pro winning it again or an entirely new name joining our list of winners.
