Applied Nutrition started its journey in the American market with its signature, advanced pre-workout ABE, which was reformulated for its debut and rebranded to make it as competitive as possible in the fast-paced region. ABE has been at the heart of the brand since then with several other ABE-named supplements, although this week, we’ve got something very different from AN Performance, the US arm of Applied, in a whole new series exclusively at The Vitamin Shoppe.
There is a pre-workout in what we’re referring to as the AN Performance family, simply named Pre. Through The Vitamin Shoppe, Pre carries a price of $49.99, making it more expensive than the hardcore ABE at $44.99 when shopping directly at abenation.com. You also get the same number of servings per bottle, at 30, although the caffeine in Pre is more moderate, and the brand directs users to take as much as two servings, potentially bringing the count down to 15 servings.
The main ingredients powering the pre-workout in AN Performance’s Vitamin Shoppe-exclusive collection start with 6g of citrulline in a maximum two-scoop serving, 4g of ornithine, and 2.5g of betaine for muscle pumps. You then have 3.2g of beta-alanine and 2g of taurine for performance, then for focus, 500mg of premium Cognizin citicoline, 1.5g of tyrosine, and the increasingly popular NeuroRush at 100mg.
Caffeine is indeed in AN Performance Pre by way of 400mg of PurCaf natural caffeine, which is swapped out in the Zero Caffeine Pre for 400mg of PeakATP for even more performance and endurance support. The brand does say you can have up to two scoops of the supplement, but if the 400mg of caffeine is a bit too much, you can bring it down to the single scoop serving, which will inherently land you more servings at a total of 30 as outlined on the front of the bottle.
Pre from AN Performance is quite a well-rounded and well-dosed supplement, packing solid dosages of the likes of citrulline, beta-alanine, and premium components like PurCaf, Cognizin, and PeakATP. It covers you from energy and focus to pumps and performance, but again, it is more expensive than ABE at $49.99 with 15 maximum servings. You can grab it starting this week from its exclusive retailer in Blue Raspberry, Lemon Freeze, Peach Mango, and Fruit Punch flavors, but only the classic Blue Raspberry for the Zero Caffeine Pre.
