GAAM Nutrition, the house brand of another Swedish sports nutrition retailer in Proteinbolaget, has released a special edition flavor of its protein powder with plenty of time until Christmas, the occasion it is entirely themed around. The experience the retailer and supplement line has recreated for the holiday season is called Polkagris, and while the branding of it is all red and white with candy canes on it, there is a bit more to it as the name ropes back around to a classic Swedish candy.
Polkagris GAAM Whey is a Christmassy protein powder inspired by the local stick candy of the same name, Polkagris. The actual taste of the treat is much the same as the classic candy canes we know here in the US as well as other countries, but there are some differences. Polkagris is peppermint flavored, although it comes in sticks, no hook at the end, and due to the ingredients and way it is made, it is much softer and chewier compared to the traditional hard, crunchy texture of a candy cane.
It is Polkagris that Proteinbolaget and GAAM Nutrition is looking to replicate in a protein shake with its Polkagris GAAM Whey. The special edition extension has a similar nutrition profile to any other option of the supplement with around 25g of protein, low carbohydrates and fat, and reasonable calories. The product is available for a limited time directly through Proteinbolaget’s online store at SEK 249 (23.62 USD) for a 900g bag, with up to 26% discount if you go as high as four bags.
