Jolt Cola is a carbonated drink that came to market almost 40 years ago in the 80s, and it was essentially one of the first energy drinks. The brand eventually dropped its iconic look and logo in the early 2000s and was later discontinued to become a memorable piece of beverage history. The original Jolt Cola had 105mg of caffeine in a 12oz can, which was most definitely a lot back in the day. The legendary drink is about to be resurrected, returning to market as an energy drink, but it’s not completely Jolt Cola.
The two-time Brand Of The Year, Redcon1, has acquired the intellectual property of Jolt Cola to create a special edition flavor collaboration of sorts for the increasingly popular Redcon1 Energy Drink. Unveiled at this year’s NACS Show in Las Vegas and coming to market in the first couple of months of next year is a Jolt Cola Redcon1 Energy Drink featuring that signature cola taste, but instead of 70mg of caffeine per 8oz; you get Redcon1’s high-powered formula, including 200mg each of caffeine and alpha-gpc.
The authentic Jolt Cola Redcon1 Energy Drink will be the beginning of the Jolt family, as the sports nutrition company plans on expanding it into other types of tastes, including a Jolt Cola Tropical Burst flavor for the energy drink. That tropical-themed flavor has also been previewed in two other products in the Total War RTD and Total War Shot. It’s an incredibly creative and genius play by Redcon1 to completely resurrect Jolt Cola for a collaboration, and we look forward to giving it a try as well as its spin-offs.
