Hydration newcomer Magna builds its debut product around various sources of magnesium

The hydration category has welcomed another completely new brand and product by way of Magna, from Michael Preysman, the founder of the successful clothing company Everlane. There is a catch with Magna and its signature supplement, in that it is centered around magnesium, although does also have other electroytes in the mix. The specific combiantion promises a variety of benefits including the usual hydration, performance, and recovery, as well as many others you don’t typically see associated with the category.

The rather unique benefits the newcomer Magna is promoting for its signature supplement are improved clarity and focus, better sleep, stronger bones, and greater energy production. All of that is said to be come from the brand’s specific combination of minerals, the majority of which is various forms of magnesium. The product features magnesium malate, magnesium glycinate, and premium Magtein magnesium threonate, providiung 210mg of magnesium per serving with sodium chloride and potassium citrate also in the mix to for other key electrolytes in 300mg of sodium, 150mg of potassium, and 460mg of chloride.

Magna Hydration Facts Panel

Magna goes into some detail about how exactly it aims to achieve those not-so-common hydration highlights, saying that it is the magnesium malate responsible for energy and threonate for the clarity and focus. It’ll be interesting to see what sort of level of energy and focus we’re talking here, obviously it is a magnesium or electrolyte supplement not any sort of stimulant or nootropic formula. Again, it is interesting seeing those benefits promoted by Magna, as we’ve not seen any others highlight energy or focus for their hydration product, nor have we ever experienced those effects at any noticeable level in that category.

You can read more about the newly released Magna at drinkmagna.com as well as buy its debut supplement through there but it is pricey, even well above some of the most advanced entries we’ve seen in hydration like Infinis Nutrition’s stacked product. Directly from Magna, you’ll pay $55 for a box of 30 single serving stick packs in your choice of Lemon Lime, Watermelon, Peach Mango, or Tea Lemonade. There is a variety pack with 28 sticks for the same price and you can save if you subscribe which gets it as low as $35.
