Simply Goods Foods is the owning company of the better-for-you food brand Atkins, known for its variety of treats and snacks that are low in carbohydrates and calories, and geared towards helping everyday individuals support weight management and live a healthier life. A few years ago, the giant expanded its family and purchased the protein bar and protein-snacking legend Quest Nutrition for an eye-watering one billion dollars.
The portfolio of Simply Good Foods has expanded once more this month, with the acquisition of the plant-based protein brand Only What You Need, better known as OWYN, for $280 million. OWYN was founded back in 2017, and has grown its selection of products to include various high-protein beverages, such as Protein Coffee and the original OWYN Protein Shake, as well as a couple of protein powders. The acquisition aims to drive profitable growth for the brand through enhanced distribution and innovative product development.
Simply Good Foods has been incredibly impressive since acquiring Quest Nutrition, rolling all sorts of health and nutrition creations, tackling areas and formats beyond its original protein bar like Quest Iced Coffee, Coated Candies, and Crackers. It has been impressive to watch, and we can’t help but imagine we’re about to see a similar evolution with OWYN, especially since Simply Good Foods highlighted innovation as an area of interest.
