Happy Way in Australia recently discontinued its pre-workout supplement Charge Up after being on the market for two and a half years, although that wasn’t intended to mean the lifestyle brand was gone from the category completely. The brand has followed that discontinuation with the launch of an all-new competitor for the saturated category more simply named Pre-Workout Powder, and while it is a step up from Charge Up, it’s not as complex or comprehensive as a lot of what’s out there.
Happy Way has taken a relatively moderate approach to the pre-workout category in its newly released Pre-Workout Powder, bringing together a variety of common ingredients for this sort of supplement. However, none of them are at hugely impressive dosages, except for the caffeine, which has been included at a rather high amount. In every maximum 20g serving of Happy Way’s pre-workout, you get 400mg of natural caffeine, and again, that is strong, especially since Charge Up had 51mg.
Other ingredients Happy Way has thrown into Pre-Workout Powder, which aren’t as intensely dosed as the caffeine, include 800mg of tyrosine for focus, another 800mg of arginine, 600mg of carnitine tartrate to enhance metabolism, and intriguingly, 2.4g of glutamine. Citrulline is present as well, but at an extremely light 1.4g of citrulline malate, a far cry from the 6 to 8g of pure citrulline we usually see; less than a third of the usual 3.2g of beta-alanine at 1g; and just 600mg of creatine monohydrate.
Happy Way has already made the evolution of its pre-workout, Pre-Workout Powder, available for purchase directly through its online store, and while its overall cost isn’t too bad, considering what you get inside a full serving, it is extremely expensive. The relatively basic and lightly dosed supplement carries a regular price of $59.95 (40.08 USD) for a bag of 25 regular or 12 double servings in four fruity flavors; Mango, Passionfruit, Watermelon, and the classic Strawberry Kiwi.
