A few months ago, you may remember seeing a post on yet another beverage from the team at Raw Nutrition, separate from its handful of other beverages, including the Thavage Pre-Workout RTD, the stimulant-free Essential Pump RTD, and the more anytime offering the BUM Energy Drink. That other — upcoming at the time — item was the Raw Protein Shake, which, instead of being something you’d throw down before a workout, is nutrition-based and designed to fulfill your protein needs.
The Raw Protein Shake finally and recently became available at the major supplement store GNC, putting Raw Nutrition in the popular but certainly not saturated or overly packed protein RTD category. You can get it from GNC stores or its website, and admittedly, it is slightly on the high side in terms of price. The retailer sells the Raw Protein Shake at $49.99, a little more than Redcon1’s MRE Lite with 25% less protein and around the same as GNC’s Wheybolic, although again, with 25% less protein.
On the inside, Raw Nutrition’s Raw Protein Shake is a quality competitor providing a little more than your typical scoop of protein powder at 30g, all from grass-fed milk and calcium caseinate; then you get 6g of carbohydrates with a gram of that sugar, 2.5g of fat, and 160 calories. Like most protein RTDs, those macrod do vary slightly across each of the flavors of the Raw Protein Shake, but not by a lot, as the protein stays the same and only the carbohydrates and fat fluctuate by about a gram or so.
Raw Nutrition is tackling the protein RTD category with a nice variety of flavors, four to be exact, two of them very traditional in Chocolate Milkshake and Vanilla Milkshake, and the other two are a little less so with Salted Caramel and a coffee inspired Mocha Latte, which is made with Colombian coffee.
