The Fit & Co Protein Bar out in Europe has built quite a reputation for itself despite the immense competition in that specific format and category in that part of the world. The brand and flagship product feature eye-catching, colorful brand, and most importantly, on-point macros with 16 to 18g of protein, depending on the flavor, and 198 to 225 calories. That is a reasonable balance, but the main driver behind the protein bar’s strong reputation is how it tastes.
There are three flavors currently on the market for the Fit & Co Protein Bar with Peanut Caramel, Hazelnut Chocolate, and Caramel Chocolate. They all involve the various tastes mentioned in their names, and they’re all coated in delicious chocolate, making for a genuinely enjoyable candy bar-like experience, on top of that 16 to 18g of protein. As mentioned, it is the taste that does the talking for Fit & Co and its protein snack, as well as its absolutely incredible texture.
Review
We’ve managed to get our hands on all three flavors of the Fit & Co Protein Bar, and right off the bat, we can tell you there is not a bar out there with the same level of doughy base, gooey caramel, crunchy pieces, and hard chocolate, that is as easy to eat as this. When you bite into a protein bar or candy bar, you go into it with a certain expectation: the former you assume is going to be thicker and harder to chew, even the best of them, and the latter you just sink your teeth into.
The Fit & Co Protein Bar will knock you back a bit in your first bite, as mentioned, the texture on this is closer to a multi-layer candy bar. As you force your teeth through its many different features, it is incredibly effortless, and your teeth simply slide through, again, like an actual sugar-stacked candy bar. There is still a bit of chew to the experience as you chomp it down in your mouth, but it is nothing like you’re used, and we have a hard time thinking of anything else in the space that’s similar.
The various tastes packed into Peanut Caramel, Hazelnut Chocolate, and Caramel Chocolate are noticeable, although while it has that candy bar-like consistency that is unbelievably easy to eat, they flavors are not supremely strong. This is mostly in the Hazelnut Chocolate filled with crispy protein pieces, but moving into Caramel Chocolate, you get a sweeter blend of caramel and chocolate. Finally, in Peanut Caramel, it’s addictively smooth and on-point, hitting the chocolate on the outside and offering a gooey caramel texture with its signature saltiness, plus a subtle peanut taste.
Summary
It’s been a long time since we’ve needed to add to our list of top five protein bars, and that’s based on every market around the world, but the Fit & Co Protein Bar belongs on there, and it’s not near the bottom. The product is certainly a standout, all coming down to that signature texture that you’ll have a hard time getting enough of, and don’t let that take away from the delicious, low-sugar flavors it communicates to make it a protein bar you won’t want to pass up.
