If you’re in Europe and in the market for a lower-calorie ice cream alternative, there is a relatively new option coming out of Italy that has made its mark in the country and can be found in many major locations, including Bennet and SPAR. The product is from a newcomer by the name of LEC, and it has quickly gained a massive following with 385k followers on Instagram in just over a month because of the famous founder behind it, professional Formula 1 and Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc.
Charles Leclerc’s ice cream company, LEC, has hit the ground running with five different flavors of its lower-calorie ice cream; however, be mindful, if you’re expecting high-protein, it’s not bad but not as big as we’ve seen or as big as we’d like to see in functional ice creams. The focus of the product is simply offering an ice cream that has less sugar and fewer calories, as the protein in a full single-pint tub goes from 11 to 13g, which, again, is not a lot, although it does help bring the calories down.
The nutrition range you can expect in Charles Leclerc’s better-for-you LEC ice cream is between 8 to 14g of fat, 42 to 53g of carbohydrates with still plenty of that sugar at 33 to 45g, again, the protein falls in the range of 11 to 13g, and the calories come out at 335 to 399. Keep in mind those numbers are based on an entire pot, as you can get multiple servings out of each, but all up, the macros are fitting for the better-for-you approach despite being a little behind Halo Top in terms of nutrition balance.
Charles Leclerc has indeed helped put LEC on the map relatively quickly, as it was launched in the home country of Ferrari, Italy, which, as mentioned, is where it’s currently available in five mouthwatering flavors, some of them deliciously familiar and some more suited for Europe. There is a classic chocolate recipe in Chocolate Crunch, Peanut Caramel Tango with caramel ripples and flakes, Salty Carammmel, a traditional vanilla called Vanillove, and lastly, Swirly Pistachi-Oh with pistachio pieces.
