The ride of PepsiCo’s energy drink has been a bumpy one; debuted in partnership with basketball legend Lebron James, and while it was most recently known as MTN DEW Energy, it started under the title MTN DEW Rise Energy. The change in name came about two years ago as a result of a trademark lawsuit involving Rise Brewing, although the beverage behemoth maintained the product’s formula and purpose, featuring citicoline for focus, a strong 180mg of caffeine for energy, and a bit of fruit juice.
Here at the start of 2024, fans of the MTN DEW Energy Drink are having to say farewell, as the company has decided to completely discontinue the product line and all of its fairly enjoyable flavors like Strawberry Melon Spark, Orange Breeze, and Pomegranate Blue Burst. With MTN DEW being owned by PepsiCo, which has several other beverages under its banner, the brand is now directing returning consumers of MTN DEW Energy to fellow energy drink competitor and giant in its own right, Rockstar.
“After careful consideration, we will be discontinuing MTN DEW Energy. We are incredibly grateful for your support. Fear not, Rockstar has your back for your energy needs. Find your flavor today!”
PepsiCo-owned Rockstar has a strong selection of energy drinks, a lot more than MTN DEW Energy and its one product with 180mg of caffeine. If you want something with a fruit juice touch, there is Rockstar Punched, or if you like the lower calories of the MTN DEW offering, there is the no-sugar and genuinely tasty Rockstar Pure Zero. Again, it’s been an interesting ride for the brand-named MTN DEW Energy Drink, but it is officially discontinued, so the next time you go to grab it from a cooler, don’t be surprised if it’s not there.
