Walmart has “big bets” planned for its evolving sports nutrition section in the coming months

Changing Supplement Section At Walmart

For those that haven’t noticed, the major retailer — and we don’t mean sports nutrition, but major mainstream retailer — Walmart, has completely transformed what it has to offer when it comes to supplements. If you visit its sports nutrition section these days, you’re met with an extensive selection made up of many notable brands from throughout the industry, with products for many of the popular categories such as protein powder, pre-workout, and weight loss.

Last year alone, rising brand TruLabs was welcomed into over 4,000 Walmart locations, Finaflex’s enjoyable protein-packed MoonPie collaboration, Power Pie, hit the retailer in its own four-pack size, and G Fuel released an exclusive stick-pack version of its signature product. Of course, we can’t forget the many supplements and flavors RYSE debuted at Walmart, including the hybrid BCAA Focus and the more cost-effective Element Series pre-workout.

Walmart certainly had some stand-out additions to its sports nutrition section last year, but the key was the types of brands and products it added to shelves. The mainstream retailer drastically broadened its variety, giving it more of a supplement store feel. As big as the moves it’s made have been, Walmart has even more planned for this year, including what it’s referring to as some “big bets” in and around August, which we look forward to seeing unfold.
