Australian fitness apparel and sports supplement company Muscle Nation has put together what looks to be a great tasting bar with an edible spin-off of its Custard protein powder. The product is the Custard Protein Bar, and it features a mouthwatering build, with a thin, doughy base, a smooth custard-like center layer, bits of extra flavor on top of that, then all wrapped in chocolate.
There are four flavors of Muscle Nation’s all-new Custard Protein Bar, including Cookies and Cream with real cookie pieces just under the outer layer, which is white chocolate-flavored. The other three options are all covered in milk chocolate with Choc Mint and Choc Vanilla, both featuring crunchy puffs, and Caramel Toffee with a mix of toffee pieces and gooey caramel above its custard center.
It is those delicious pockets of custard-like consistency and extra bits of flavor that make the Custard Protein Bar look so good, not to mention that coat of chocolate. As tasty as it appears and sounds, the nutrition profile of the product is not too bad either, with 15 to 18g of protein per bar, 5.3 to 6.9g of fat, 2.7 to 5.1g of carbohydrates up to 4.5g of sugar, and 208 to 218 calories.
The macros aren’t as lean as the likes of a Carb Killa Protein Bar or Barebells Protein Bar, but if it tastes as good as it looks, they’ll be worth that lower ratio of protein to calories. Muscle Nation’s Custard Protein Bar is out now in Australia through the country’s major supermarket chain Coles, where a single protein bar will cost you a very reasonable $4 (3.01 USD).
