Two years ago, Applied Nutrition turned its mass gainer Critical Mass into more of a lean gainer, lowering all of the important areas of the nutrition profile. The revamped product went down to 42g of protein, still, a reasonable amount of carbohydrates at 75g, only one gram of sugar, and 566 calories, whereas all of the original macros came to a much higher calorie count in the 900s.
Applied Nutrition has now brought back that original Critical Mass formula with Critical Mass Original, which sees the return of that higher calorie combination. The supplement is due to hit stores and stockists in the UK soon, and if it is indeed true to the first Critical Mass, the nutrition profile will consist of 52g of protein, a hefty 155g of carbohydrates, 11g of fat, and 928 calories.
There have been many versions of Critical Mass over the years, before the lean edition came to market, although whichever Critical Mass Applied Nutrition is bringing back, it will have that higher calorie count. To save any confusion, moving forward, the brand will refer to the returning version as Critical Mass Original, and the one dropped in 2018, Critical Mass Professional.
