After four years of being on the market, the functional brand The Dough Bar, has revamped the product that made it so popular in the first place, with its high-protein doughnuts. The team’s already quite tasty, protein-packed snack has undergone several changes, all in an effort to make the product better in as many ways as possible.
Firstly, the nutrition profile of The Dough Bar’s doughnuts without any toppings, has become slightly more calorie-dense by way of more protein and less sugar. Each of the brand’s doughnuts, by themselves, provide 13g of protein instead of 11g, 5.5g of fat, 50% more carbohydrates at 24g, with a third the sugar at 1g, and 195 calories.
Other notable changes that have been made to the brand’s now higher-protein doughnuts is that they’re hexagonal-shaped, and still have the same soft consistency. Also, despite the lower sugar, the brand says they’re even sweeter than before, and after receiving multiple requests from fans, its doughnuts no longer contain soy.
The Dough Bar’s improved protein doughnuts are available to order starting this month, through the brand’s website. Just like the previous version, the higher protein, carbohydrate, and calorie doughnuts come in a variety of flavors with the likes of Birthday Cake, Cookie Monster, and Oreo Cheesecake, and cost around $16 for a box of four.
