Animal has basically dropped a bomb here at the Arnold Expo this weekend, by introducing an entirely new supplement it is currently working on. The name of the product is Animal Snak, which is the hardcore brand’s entry into the fast growing, and highly competitive world of protein bars.
As well as getting a look at a prototype of Animal Snak this weekend, the brand has passed on a few nutrition details for it and given us a taste of the bar itself. Firstly the nutrition numbers we know of are 25g of protein per bar, with the carbohydrates a little bit higher than that, a good amount of fiber, and around 10g of fat.
As for how the Animal Snak prototype tastes, it is a lot different from what we thought we’d be getting from the brand. While we expected something fairly monstrous or hardcore with the supplement coming from Animal, that’s not quite what Snak is, although based on the prototype it is going to be a very dangerous competitor.
The Animal Snak is actually an extremely soft, quality natural type bar that looks and tastes like it’s been made to take on the likes of the Quest Bar and Muscletech’s Mission1. Despite how it looks, the bar is very soft and consistently smooth, so much so that your teeth just sink right through it when you bite in.
The Chocolate Chip Peanut Crunch flavor we got to try comes packed full of real peanuts throughout, along with a strong, consistent peanut butter flavor, and a few bulky chocolate chips. The tastes all come together for a peanut butter heavy experience that you won’t forget, and is definitely better than all of the non-candy bar style protein bars we’ve come across.
Unfortunately, you’re not going to be seeing Animal’s exciting Animal Snak on shelves anytime soon as the brand is still hard at work on it. As mentioned however, if the brand’s prototype is anything like the final product, it will be well worth the wait and is destined to do some real damage in the bar category.
