We always do our best to review the supplements that we feel look the most interesting, as well as supplements that get a lot of attention. Sometimes they do take a while to get around to, which is definitely the case for the item we have for review today. Over the past few weeks we’ve been putting Performix Pump to the test, a product that was actually revealed nine months ago and released eight months ago.
The reason we really wanted to give this one a go was because the brand’s stimulant pre-workout ION surprised us quite a bit despite how it looked on paper. Like all of Performix’s supplements, Performix Pump is a proprietary formula so you don’t really know what the doses of any of its ingredients are. The total weight of its one and only blend do suggest some things, however as we learned with ION the brand’s signature Terra Bead Technology does play an amplifying role.
Sustained, full muscle pump
When it comes to stimulant free, pump pre-workouts we always group them into two categories. You have your fullness type products, then your more dense, hard pump pre-workouts. For us Performix Pump definitely falls into the former, fullness category. Its pump also kicks in relatively quickly, or at least compared to most competitors, as you’ll feel it start working its magic as early as your first or second exercise. You’ll notice your muscles suddenly become easier to isolate and pump up, which is something that stays with you right through to the end of your workout. Coincidentally the supplement delivers just what the brand promises a “sustained, full muscle pump”.
Solid pump, but not as good as others out there
While Performix Pump is effective, delivering a long lasting pump beyond what you could attain without the product. It won’t blow you up as much as some of the other more powerful competitors we’ve seen. If we had to give its fullness effect an honest score out of 5 we’d say a 3.5. Keep in mind we are being fairly tough with our grading system as per usual, as the best we’ve come across would probably be a 4.5 in the likes of Cannibal Permaswole and the original Giant Pump.
Be careful of the niacin
Something we always get asked after a review is how many servings we used to get the best out of a supplement. For Performix Pump, the above review is based on its maximum of two servings, however you will want to be careful with this one due to its niacin content. Most of us had no problems, although there were one or two occasions where a slightly heaping maximum resulted in the uncomfortable, niacin flushing side effect. That will of course be different for each and every person, all we’re saying is just start low rather than high as the side effect can throw off your entire workout.
