Ever since Quest launched its insider club Quest Labs we’ve been trying almost all of its yet to be released creations. Included in that list of products we got our hands on are the three Quest bar flavors, Oatmeal Chocolate Chip, Rocky Road and Blueberry Muffin. Today we thought we’d share our experience with the Quest Labs bars, especially since one of them has become a favorite of ours.
Oatmeal Chocolate Chip exactly like it sounds
We’re going to start things off with Oatmeal Chocolate Chip which comes in as our least favorite as it tastes exactly like you’d expect. The majority of the bar is the first part of its name, packing a very consistent oatmeal flavor that actually has a touch of cinnamon adding in a bit of sweetness. Chocolate chips are scattered throughout, however they aren’t overly common so the bar is mostly an Oatmeal and cinnamon sweetened experience, with the odd chocolate chunk surprise.
Rocky Road without the marshmallows
Next up is Rocky Road, the flavor we thought was going to be our favorite. Basically it’s not a bad effort by Quest although it isn’t quite the Rocky Road protein bar we were hoping for. While we know the brand did say there are marshmallows or a marshmallow taste in Rocky Road, we didn’t notice even a hint of it in the bar itself. It does have the other two tastes down, chocolate and actual almonds, however that only makes it a chocolate nut bar not Rocky Road. It’s certainly not bad as just chocolate and almonds, but you will be disappointed if you’re looking for a Rocky Road like combination.
Blueberry Muffin the surprise favorite
Last but not least is the Blueberry Muffin Quest Bar, which is surprisingly our favorite. The flavors named in its title may not sound overly exciting, although rest assured they do not disappoint. From start to finish the bar features a sweet, delicious hint of blueberry with certain areas of it packing an even stronger fruity punch. It also has a very muffiny like taste that remains throughout and is also amplified with what we can only assume are muffin chunks. In short it is a real treat that even those that don’t like blueberry or fruity protein bars, will likely enjoy.
Overall we are quite surprised by everyone of the Quest Labs bars. Oatmeal Chocolate Chip isn’t our favorite of the three but still a solid flavor, with the same thing to be said for Rocky Road despite it not being as marshmallow infused as we had hoped. The Blueberry Muffin Quest Bar however does steal the show, mostly because it’s nothing like the others and an unexpectedly delicious. We have in fact already gone back and ordered more since running out of Blueberry Muffin, and truly hope it makes it to market.
