Scoop-Lock review: Has AllMax stopped scoop loss?

scoop-lock technology

Early this year AllMax Nutrition started its Stop Scoop Loss campaign with the introduction of its own unique Scoop-Lock Technology. For those that missed the announcement, the brand’s Scoop-Lock Technology is an upgraded protein tub which has a space at the top of it to hold its scoop above the powder. It is the solution to what AllMax’s campaign is all about, stopping the loss of powder while you dig for a protein’s scoop by simply having the scoop sit above the powder.

Ever since we saw the video for AllMax’s Scoop-Lock tubs we wanted to get a closer look, which we have with an updated tub of the brand’s isolate protein Isoflex. Firstly we have to say the upgraded lid is actually almost more impressive than the scoop. It’s not just that it’s larger and a lot easier to turn, but its quality and ease of use is a big improvement as the lid screws on and off very smoothly.

The big feature of AllMax’s Scoop-Lock tubs is of course the fact that the scoop is held at the top of each tub. When we first opened our tub of Isoflex it was definitely a nice surprise to see the scoop sitting comfortably at the top. If you’re wondering how it does that, the custom top is in fact fairly simple. Basically there is a lip on the inside of the tub’s neck that goes right the way around. It is lip that holds up both ends of the scoop as it stretches perfectly from one side of the tub’s opening to the other.

The one thing that we did find interesting about our Scoop-Lock Isoflex is that after we opened it we didn’t go back to putting the scoop on top. On the odd occasion we did decide to place it in neatly, however every other time the scoop was just thrown or dropped in the tub out of habit. While scoop loss does really only occur when you first open a tub of protein, we did think that the Scoop-Lock feature would come in handy after that, although that just wasn’t the case at least for us.

Is it worth switching for Scoop-Lock?

At the end of the day the question is does AllMax stop scoop loss with its Scoop-Lock Technology, and the answer to that is yes. The second question though is should you switch to one of AllMax’s four proteins that have feature or go on with your current protein? For us things like flavor and value still come first, so we’d pick our favorite or something on sale over a product with Scoop-Lock any day.

While AllMax Nutrition’s Scoop-Lock Technology isn’t quite a game changer, or a feature that’d make us sway one way over another. The innovative addition to Isoflex, AllWhey and Hexapro will most definitely be appreciated by current fans of the supplements. It’s simply just an awesome addition that would actually be nice to see incorporated by other brands.
