BlenderBottle Pro 45 review: Perfect shaker for any weight gainer

pro 45 review

A few weeks back BlenderBottle officially launched its Pro 45 shaker direct through its website, although the product was already available via the retailer GNC. The item saw the brand take things up a notch, as if you didn’t know the Pro 45 is true to its name by being a massive 45oz shaker. We actually managed to recently get a hold of the product to take our own look at it, and bring you a hands on Pro 45 review.

Extra size brings with it extra features

The first thing that stands out about the shaker once you have it in your hands, is the one and only feature you’d imagine would stick out. BlenderBottle’s Pro 45 is as big as it’s advertised, in fact at 45oz or 1,330ml it is the largest shaker in terms of capacity we’ve ever seen. We say capacity as we have come across a few that are equal in size if not bigger than the Pro 45, however that is only because they come with a handful of attachments.

Once you get past the size of the Pro 45, you then pick up its bonus features that actually further separate it from a regular BlenderBottle. The brand has given the product a rounded base, something we’ve seen on a lot of new shakers over the past few months, which solves the issue of powder getting clumped in corners. Another added feature is the extra strength cap that takes a little more effort to clip in, but does make you feel more than safe when vigorously shaking.

The good and the bad

The catch with the Pro 45 for us is that while it does have some great features, it only really comes in handy when mixing up a mass gainer or something equally thick. We’ve never really used a regular protein powder with anything more than 16oz of water, even when throwing in a couple of scoops of carbohydrates. If you do that with the Pro 45 it just feels like a massive waste of space, especially when 16oz in a traditional 28oz BlenderBottle still leaves you with plenty of room.

If however you are a regular mass protein user, whether it be for a few months in the year or year round, the Pro 45 is well worth investing in. Almost every shaker we’ve ever come across has a lot of trouble mixing up as well as holding a suggested weight gainer serving. We did in fact test out the ability of the Pro 45 for this review, throwing together our own mix of 60g of protein and 240g of carbohydrates.

Not only did the Pro 45 handle our concoction in terms of volume, but it also took only 5 to 10 seconds of shaking to have it pouring out as smooth as possible. The mixing power of the much bigger BlenderBottle is also greatly improved thanks to the 50% heavier 12-gauge BlenderBall. Overall the Pro 45 is essentially the perfect shaker for any mass gainer. While there are larger formulas than the one we tested it with out there, it really creamed our 360g combination, making us more than confident that it could handle servings up as high as 400 to 500g.
