Hypnos review: Chaos and Pain sleep aid solid all around

hypnos review

While new sleep supplements aren’t something you see as much as pre-workouts or protein powders, they’re one of our favorite types of formulas. Not only do they help you get to sleep, which is of course one of the most important things when it comes to building muscle or losing weight. But depending on the product brands have also been able to incorporate recovery ingredients, taking extra advantage of the nighttime window. One of the most recent releases in the category is Chaos and Pain’s Olympus Series Hypnos, which we have been using for the past two or three weeks to bring you today’s review of the supplement.

There are about four things we look for in a sleep formula, its knock out ability, quality of sleep, the wake up, and lastly recovery power. The recovery isn’t always a factor since most competitors are designed for sleep, and that’s it. Either way we will talk about it for Hypnos as we do feel it is somewhat present in combination with the product’s wake up.

Natural type knock out

First up we have the supplement’s ability to knock you out or at least put you to sleep, something Hypnos does very well. The product doesn’t exactly work in the traditional way by making you feel tired, forcing you to bed, then putting you out. Chaos and Pain’s creation works in a much more subtle way by adding a bit of weight to your eyelids. Hypnos comes over you in quite a natural way making you genuinely feel sleepy. It won’t force you to lie down and close your eyes, but if you do after taking two scoops you’ll be out in a matter of minutes. The experience is one of those ones where you wake up in the morning and can barely remember lying down, let alone how long it took you to get to sleep.

Quality deep sleep

Next up is the quality of sleep in Hypnos, an effect that we usually see done pretty well however have seen done terribly. In the case of Chaos and Pain’s competitor you really won’t be disappointed with how deep the sleep is. Much like we mentioned with the knock out ability of Hypnos where you will have trouble remembering how long it took you to get to sleep in the morning, during the night the supplement is equally as smooth. We didn’t experience any lightness of sleep, with the only real memories being that of a few classic deep sleep dreams.

Wake up refueled and re-energized

Last but not least is the wake up, which as talked about earlier does cross over with the light recovery power of Hypnos. This is truly where we feel the product shines as getting you to sleep and making sure you stay that way isn’t exactly a rare combination in this category. What makes Hypnos so special with its wake up is that come morning you won’t find it at all difficult to get up. Much like our long-lost favorite MusclePharm Bullet Proof, almost every morning you first open your eyes on the supplement they aren’t likely to close again.

To make Hypnos’ highlight even more interesting we found that if you decide to use it for two hours less sleep such as six instead of eight, you will still have no trouble springing out of bed. In a lot of sleep formulas waking up earlier is usually a bit of a mission, and in some it’s a side effect as we’ve tested products that actually result in dizziness and headaches. Bad experiences aside, Hypnos will not have you feeling drowsy at all come morning. Whether it’s the fact the supplement ensures you get a good night’s sleep or something else entirely, you won’t be welcomed with any uncomfortable surprise when you wake on Hypnos.

Recovery not quite there

As for the light bit of recovery we mentioned, it is the bright wake up that we feel gives the sense of increased recovery. We say it “gives the sense” as muscle soreness isn’t anything that’s really reduced, with the recovery being more of a feeling than a body thing. It’s almost like taking a bit of caffeine post-workout, you’ll feel good but your body would still be destroyed. Hypnos kind of gives you that energy you have once you’re fully awake and moving about, although only a few minutes after you open your eyes.

Solid all around sleep aid

Overall Chaos and Pain’s Olympus Series Hypnos basically comes through in all the areas it needs to. As far as sleep formulas go it does everything you’d want it to and in good amounts. The product gets you to sleep in a natural calming fashion, it makes sure you stay asleep, then in the morning it has you recharged and refueled enough to quickly get you out of bed and moving. The one part it falls down in is recovery, however there are very few formulas that successfully deliver on that and recovery isn’t exactly something Hypnos promises anyway. At the end of the day the supplement gives you nothing you should be complaining about with a solid all around experience.
