MAN Sports unveiling of their four ISO-Amino flavors wasn’t just exciting because it was a new supplement, but also because we knew the brand had done something special. First it was mighty melon, then blue bomb-sicle, followed by tigers blood, and finally the most interesting one of them all, sour batch. When MAN launched their 1%er’s sales for ISO-Amino we really had no choice, we had to grab the product and find out for ourselves how good the brand’s flavoring department is. Being a dedicated BCAA formula there isn’t much we can say about its effects, as you’ll have your own reactions to 5g of 2:1:1 BCAAs, or however much you use. The taste on this one for us is what matters and is just as impressive as we expected.
It’s almost too hard to split the flavors up in order of preference, as they’re all about as good as you can get. When forced to choose, we’d have to say mighty melon takes the number four spot. Like all the other ISO-Amino options, MAN’s watermelon effort is heavy on flavor and perfect for those times when you’re in need of a calorieless treat. The best way to describe its actual taste is quite flat or plain, and that is no way a knock on mighty melon. It is a consistent flavor that you’ll sense right from the first sip to when you swallow, about the same as the common watermelon experience you’ll get with most supplements. Despite its lack of strength compared to the others, mighty melon still manages to deliver that semi-sour watermelon sweetness when you initially take it in. It does quickly die down to the consistency we mentioned, but not before sending your taste buds on a short lived ride.
Next up we have to go with tigers blood. One of ISO-Aminos three flavors taken from MAN’s Game Day, and about the same experience as you get in the pre-workout. Traditionally tigers blood is a mix of fruits, strawberry and watermelon with a hint of coconut. Just like in the brand’s Game Day, the strawberry and watermelon clash quite well creating a unique fruit punch mixture that you could really only describe as signature tigers blood. As mentioned earlier the flavoring in ISO-Amino is quite strong, and tigers blood is a great example of that. The intense combination of whatever’s in there really hits you a little more than it does in MAN’s pre-workout recipe, almost completely disguising the touch of coconut. Even though you can’t exactly compare it to the real thing like with mighty melon, MAN seem to be doing a solid job with tigers blood. There are only a handful of brands out there that have done this one, with MAN being from what we know, the only one to do it for two different products. If you are a fan of tigers blood, something different, or even the common fruit punch, you’re definitely going to appreciate this ISO-Amino with MAN’s elevated taste intensity.
Taking the position as our second favorite of the ISO-Aminos is quite the surprise. We’ve had blue raspberry concoctions on a number of occasions, as it’s probably one of the most common veteran flavors next to fruit punch. As it turns out, blue bomb-sicle isn’t exactly a blue raspberry recipe taking inspiration from the classic Bomb Pop, pushing it more towards blueberry. For us it is a light blue raspberry or as intended blueberry led taste, featuring a pinch of that artificial blueness we’re all too familiar with. The taste is then enhanced even further with what seems like a dense unique fruit punch mixture, presumably the Bomb Pop originals cherry and lime. Although a lot like tigers blood the fruity features end up creating their own flavor leaving no indication of their presence. To top it off blue bomb-sicle packs a sugary finish adding extra sweetness to both the intense fruit punch like side, and the smooth blue raspberry or blueberry fraction, which actually helps drag you more towards the idea of blueberry. We have had blue raspberry, blueberry and all sorts of blue type recipes in pre-workouts, aminos, post-workouts, basically every fruity flavored product there is. MAN’s blue bomb-sicle ISO-Amino tops them all, and will have no trouble finding fans that enjoy that signature artificial blueness with the noticeable sweet Bomb Pop twist.
Lastly, and you had to have known this was going to be our favorite, we have sour batch ISO-Amino. As much as we enjoyed blue bomb-sicle. If that is the best blue raspberry or blueberry supplement we’ve had, then sour batch is without a doubt the best tasting amino we’ve ever had. Being the only flavor not taken from MAN’s Game Day, we knew we were in for something different. The brand’s images confirmed it was their take on Sour Patch Kids candy, which we had no idea how they were going to pull off. While you may or may not believe it, the awesome ISO-Amino actually tastes like Sour Patch Kids in liquid form. You get that sour sugary hit, along with a touch of random fruity sweetness, balancing the option out to perfection. We did say earlier that mighty melon is the calorieless treat you’re looking for when craving on a diet, post-workout or just in general. If you can understand that mighty melon hits the spot, and is our least favorite ISO-Amino, sour batch being our most loved out the group, should speak volumes. The flavor is in fact so good its addictive, making it one every supplement enthusiast needs to try even if it’s just a sample.
With MAN’s history of solid flavoring and ability to get creative, ISO-Amino gave the brand room to go all out, and that appears to be what they did. Despite placing mighty melon at number four for us, as mentioned you can’t take that as a bad thing. When compared to the others MAN have on the menu, mighty melon didn’t stand a chance. As you go up, tigers blood shows its face once again, proving to be a classic hit for the brand. We then go to blue bomb-sicle that puts a spin on the seemingly blue raspberry recipe, with a bomb pop inspiration. Last but certainly not least is the best of them all sour batch, and what we are now going to refer to as the best flavored amino available. To be honest you won’t be disappointed purchasing any of the four, however our top two would be the way to go. If you’re not okay with a sour hit then blue bomb-sicle will be worth a shot, otherwise sour batch is where you want to go.
