While we never really got a chance to try Performax Labs reformulated HyperMax earlier in the year, it did only take the brand a few months to put together a second version for 2014. Performax promoted the supplement as a much more pump powered experienced, introducing a couple new features and completely cutting out it’s creatine complex. As per usual, looking at the contents of a product can only tell you so much. There are a number of other factors involved such as quality of ingredients, proprietary blends and the effects of certain combinations of ingredients. Meaning that sometimes you do really need to use a supplement to get the whole story. That was the case for Performax HyperMax, which did look interesting enough for us to put to the test and see how it’s promising formula performs.
The first thing you gotta know about HyperMax is that it is one of those pre-workouts that kicks in reasonably quick and reasonably hard. It’s not so much an immediate thing, but the feeling and urgency to workout does basically come over you in about 60 seconds, following the normal five to ten minute period after you drink the pre-workout. Whether you’re walking to the gym, driving, or already there and waiting for the product to start working it’s magic, you’ll definitely realize when it’s going down. Like all good pre-workouts HyperMax does offer a lot more than just the old school energy kick. As the power of the Performax supplement starts filling you up, you’ll notice an incredible combination of energy and focus, and later on a pinch of intensity and a solid pump completing the experience.
Even though the focus and the energy come in at the same time, we’ll touch on the latter to start. These days the classic energy effect is really hard to actually do wrong. Performax prove this by delivering a strong hit to kick off the pre-workout, that’s right on the money. You won’t find yourself feeling over the top or stimmed out, nor will the yawns stay with you even on your hardest of days and sleepless of nights. HyperMax has the perfect amount of clean energy to get you up off the couch and moving, all while keeping you in control and not like you’re on any sort of high. The energy has a kind of fulfilling sense to it, emphasizing the natural side to the effect and furthering that feeling like it’s your own energy. It does take the product a few minutes to build to that perfect point we’re describing where it’s all go, and it is during that time where the other initial HyperMax highlight comes in.
The supplement’s very impressive focus essentially starts a minute or so after you notice the energy, or on some occasions at the same time. The effect is a difficult one to explain for the Performax pre-workout, as we wouldn’t say it has that classic tunnel vision or mind altering impact. The best way to describe it would be to compare it to the mindset you get when you feel a rush of energy come over you. It’s not so much the fact that someone or something is getting inside your head and revving you up. It’s more that you’ve now got a whole bunch of energy that is going to power you for an intense workout over the next 45 to 60 minutes, so it’s time to kill it. The focus effect of HyperMax really amplifies that whole scenario, not just by intensifying the surge of energy and centering your attention around it. But also by clearing out everything else you have on your mind and forcing you to concentrate on the one task at hand.
The combination of the energy and focus is what powers you for the first quarter or sometimes half of your workout, up until the pump makes it’s way in. Performax did promise a much heavier hit of the effect in their reformulation, which is most definitely the case. The updated HyperMax will see your muscles react a lot better than you’d expect with the increase in energy and zero-in focus. The pump as mentioned does take a little longer to kick in than the other effects, as you will need to get the blood flowing for it to show itself. Once however it’s all in motion you’ll be treated to the rare feeling of a complete pre-workout experience. While the energy fuels your efforts piling on extra reps, the focus will ensure you have the confidence and mindset to go heavier and harder, with the pump adding that always enjoyable muscle expanding sensation. We can’t say the third effect is as good as some of the top dedicated pump products we’ve tried. But it’s definitely enough to dilate whatever body part you’re working on, and take away the need to stack HyperMax with anything to amplify pump.
The fourth and final effect we have to touch on is intensity, although it’s not as impressive as what we’ve seen in others out there. The energy and focus do steal the show, even when the pump makes an impact, as the two stars are quite overpowering. It is the same deal with the intensity as the focus really keeps you where you need to be mentally right throughout your workout, with the energy powering you through and making sure you push every set possible. As the two effects work off one another, even when the intensity feels like it’s picking up and your rest periods are shortening. It’s difficult to tell whether it’s the supplement’s ability to refuel your body or the energy and focus doing something as it forces you to push on for more pain. There are times where it does seem like HyperMax is squeezing in that instant recovery. But with the energy so high and consistent even after your muscles have given out in a set, you don’t really feel down or like you need to recover at any point anyway.
Peformax Labs pre-workout is basically one of those products that looks promising, and actually follows through in the gym. The enjoyable combination of energy and focus is a big part of the supplement, so big that they almost make HyperMax’s enhanced pump go unnoticed and essentially always mask the truth behind the presence of intensity. While we are making it sound like relying on just energy and focus is a bad thing, that is in no way the case. If the effects were poor performers, than yes it would be a bad showing. Performax however nail both, delivering the duo at levels we have experienced before, although not with the touches of pump and intensity. Despite the two less obvious effects not being the best we’ve seen, the product’s balance and overall performance is solid. The new HyperMax does what it needs to packing five star amounts of it’s two main attractions to beat out a lot of it’s competitors, then increase it’s lead with the added bonus of a bit of pump.
