Back when Muscletech first launched their multi-phase protein powder Phase8, it was available in just three flavors, chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry. Today the brand are producing double that with three more in cookies and cream, peanut butter chocolate, and the most recent addition white chocolate. While we have yet to get our hands on the latter of the three. We have managed to get our hands on cookies and cream and peanut butter chocolate, resulting in what we have here for you today, a taste review of the two.
The first variant we are going to go in to detail on is peanut butter chocolate. Compared to all the other peanut butter and chocolate options we’ve tried, Muscletech’s Phase8 is a little different. While the flavor is a mixture of two different tastes, we have to say that the peanut butter is the more dominant of the two. In fact we would even go as far as saying that the chocolate is almost non-existent. The only trace we actually experienced was among the aftertaste. In which the chocolate marginally managed to hang around a little longer and stronger than the peanut butter. If we had to name a protein powder similar, it would have to be Metabolic Nutrition’s peanut butter cookie Protizyme. Reinforcing our opinion of just how peanut butter driven we feel the Muscletech Phase8 flavor really is.
The second variant we’re going to cover is cookies and cream, and like peanut butter chocolate. Phase8’s fifth overall option is a two piece mixture, compromised of cookies and cream. Another thing the two have in common is that the cookies and cream flavor does have a more dominant side to it, with it’s cream trumping the cookies. While that is the same with most tastes of this type, Muscletech’s Phase8 delivers in more than just taste. As it’s signature thickness helps promote an actual creamy experience. That takes even more away from the cookies department, by drowning out the cookie pieces and the common cookie fusion.
To sum up the Phase8 options, they are both excellent examples of the titles they carry. Essentially if you are a peanut butter chocolate fan. Muscletech’s concoction is going to hit home more with the peanut butter lovers, more than those looking for an equal combination of the two flavors. As for those interested in cookies and cream. If you are the type who prefers the added kick of the cookies, Muscletech’s innovation is lacking in that area. There is a pinch of the chocolate biscuit, however it’s creamy texture and taste does somewhat overpower the cookies. The bonus with the two Phase8 variants is that they are not like your usual peanut butter and chocolate, or cookies and cream recipes. Resulting in tasteful experiences that are both interesting, and uniquely delicious.
