Gluta-Tren comes back on top, solid review for a glutamine heavy recovery supplement

Gluta-Tren was a supplement that came in ProMera’s first wave of releases after Con-Cret went big. It slid down the pipeline with it’s opposing window partner Beta-Cret. When we reviewed Beta it was quite a surprise that a not so popular product could provide such a result. It wasn’t overwhelming and certainly nothing to put into the top 10 but it did a lot more than expected and as it so happens Gluta-Tren is very much the same.

With a title like Gluta-Tren it is easy to assume that the PorMera supplement is a glutamine driven formula. While the recovery ingredient is in the product it does have a few other features that are worth a look. The main matrix comes in at a weight of 14.75g with only one known measurement, 8g of glutamine. That leaves 6.75g of beta-alanine, taurine, tyrosine, creatinol-O-phosphate and an unknown ratio of BCAAs. Even though the combination is relatively small and a little short on contents, Gluta-Tren packs a reasonable punch with it’s recovery results.

Like Beta-Cret it is a powerful enough supplement to notice some positive effects. It is not as impressive as Monster Amino, nothing usually is however because the recovery category is not as heated as the pre-workout, Gluta-Tren is definitely a product that gets a spot up top.

It doesn’t revitalize the muscles excitingly quick but over the post-workout period of about half an hour the body does recover reasonably well. Not only does Gluta dismantle muscle soreness, it equally attacks your energy systems reviving you up until the point aches and tiredness have completely disappeared. It brings you to a point, not where you want to go back to the gym, but enough so that you don’t lie down and couch the rest of the day.

As a post-workout recovery supplement Gluta-Tren easily competes with amino driven formulas despite the fact that it is an 8g heavy glutamine product. If it were to be given a place in the rankings it would sit under Gaspari’s Aminolast, which is theoretically just outside the top 5. Price is something that always comes into question and at the regular retail of $30 it isn’t too bad. Not cheap enough to take a risk on however there have been plenty of sales over the past few months that put Gluta in the well worth it basket.

For a supplement that has been passed over so many times it is great to see it come back with such a solid review. To make things even more interesting if this is what ProMera can do with glutamine for a recovery product, imagine what Amino-Tren is going to be like.
