BSN’s every changing CellMass, how much is performance worth to you?

BSN went the concentrated route with their 2.0 version of the veteran creatine CellMass. The slimmer formula has 3 types of the ingredient, HCL, monohydrate and anhydrous. It combined the myogenic matrix with two other blends containing whey protein hydrolysate, two forms of glutamine, banaba extract and taurine. The top end supplement maintained it’s high price coming in just under $40. When spending this amount of money on a creatine product you got to wonder, is it really worth the extra cash.

Most supplements in this category have roughly the same effects. The added weight, strength and performance boosts are not uncommon when running creatine. Even though most of the products offer similar results they do vary in price.

The ones that get over that $30 mark are generally supplements you should only be looking at if you have the cash to spare. They are worth the money, every little performance gain always is. However if you purchase CellMass 2.0 for $40 instead of something like MP Creatine for $20 (which works out to be $10 a month). Do not expect quadruple the results. In fact don’t even expect double. That extra $30 will probably only you bring you about one and a tenth (1.1) more. Think of this kind of creatine as a luxury.

Even though the results of CellMass are only marginally better than your average creatine product. The unique formula actually has two other things that come as a bonus.

The old downside to creatine supplements was the bloat. Thanks to all the research and arrival of new forms over the years, that effect has become almost unnoticeable. CellMass 2.0 not only has minimal bloat it could actually be described as zero. The performance and strength boosts you would expect from a creatine still remain, however the body doesn’t seem to hold on to any of that extra aggravating weight. Even though it is a barely their feeling with today’s popular products, this does help justify 2.0’s high price tag.

Another bonus that comes with the BSN formula is a spin off of the zero bloat. While the body may not hold as much it does still require a consistent amount of water. However compared to other creatines, CellMass won’t have you dry mouthed desperate for water every hour. Even after you’ve visited the bathroom, it doesn’t seem to have that water hungry effect we’ve all come to expect.

Expensive creatines are becoming quite dated but BSN did a great job in combining the modern aged concentrate theme with their ever changing CellMass supplement. It does deliver a bit more than your average creatine, and if money is no issue 2.0 will take you the extra metre. On the other hand it isn’t worth removing that vitamin or even BCAA from your cart.

A lot of companies are slowly dipping into the competitive essential market. MP did it in their core range, Gaspari with Qualitine and more recently Cellucor in their Cor Performance series. It is good to see BSN sticking to their guns despite the competition. The brand continues to push the boundaries and CellMass 2.0 reminds us that BSN are still one of the best in the industry.
