The Platinum series is BB.com’s first run at a high quality range of supplements. They did a great job with the packaging but as we all know the power of a product is in it’s performance. Since so many companies are releasing pre-workouts we figured that would be the best supplement to review first. Scream is BB.com’s gift to the energy market and as it turns out the product is just as good as it’s name.
The pre-workout packs in a massive scoop at 26.1g. The other thing that stands out about this is it’s uncanny resemblance to Muscle Pharm’s Assault. Yes the team green supplement does have a few things Scream does not but the selling points are very much a like. BB.com put in 125mcg of B12 to MP’s 170mcg, they both have BCAAs, Carnosyn, Creapure. In fact the only two things Assault doesn’t have of Scream’s is Carnipure, glucuronolactone and instead of Sustamine it has regular l-glutamine.
Having a similar formula to the athlete’s pre-workout is actually not a bad thing, but it is no surprise that Scream performs very much like Assault. The lasting energy will see you right the way through your workout and all the way back home. It pushes you past the regular rep counts and gets the muscles moving even when they have nothing left in them.
It may not increase your strength but Scream’s endurance power and shortened rest periods the heightened energy creates really forces your body past it’s usual stopping point. Similar to Assault it is like having a personal trainer on your back telling you to do another set, another rep, less rest. The focus factor isn’t as noticeable as other supplements however it does enough to get your head in the right place.
Scream is definitely a fitting title for this pre-workout. Not because you have so much energy you want to scream. More like when you are done you want to scream because you just destroyed your workout.
Since it is best compared to Assault the real mystery is, is it as good as Assault? The quick answer is no. Every effect Scream has is basically a marginally toned down version of what the Muscle Pharm product offers. However the next question would be, is that extra bit of push worth the money? BB.com price their pre-workout on level with MP’s. So the next detail that comes into play is serving count versus cost.
The 16 scoop bottle of Assault will run you around $1.85 per maximum serving. Scream on the other hand comes in at $1.50. However MP did just a release a 60 serving tub and that brings Assault’s price down to just $0.84 a scoop.
BB.com may run a special now and then, considering it is their supplement. Which could make Scream a justifiable purchase. But based on current cost, ingredients and performance the original powerhouse scoop takes the cake. Scream does work extremely well, in fact a lot better than expected. Even though it doesn’t knock Assault off it’s high horse it does compete. Which makes the other products in the Platinum series all the more interesting.
