Last year we were introduced to DVST8 White Cut, which ended up becoming the #1 rated pre-workout, a position the supplement still holds today. The brand behind that product now has another competitor in the pre-workout game called DVST8 Crimson, a supplement we finally have a review for here today.
What is DVST8 Crimson?
For those that haven’t come across DVST8 Crimson before, it is as mentioned a pre-workout formula from the innovative team over at Inspired Nutraceuticals. What sets it apart from the brand’s other pre-workout competitor DVST8 White Cut, is that it is essentially a simpler experience.
Instead of packing in everything you could ever possibly want from a pre-workout like with White Cut, DVST8 Crimson features a combination of the more popular effects. The product does also cost significantly less than White Cut, so if you’re on a budget or don’t mind a slightly less complete pre-workout, then you’re going to want to read on and find out how Crimson performs.
Intense energy
The Crimson experience all starts with a nice kick of energy, that’s actually a little more intense than in White Cut. The initial hit is definitely something you’ll notice, but certainly won’t mind, as it really sets the tone for the rest of your workout. It doesn’t exactly make you need to go non-stop, but you will feel like you have the power to do so.
The energy easily sits at a level we’d consider stimulant heavy, so for those of you who aren’t fans of feeling over the top, Crimson probably isn’t for you. Despite being quite intense, the energy will last the full length of a typical 45 to 60 minute workout. It does also stay pretty consistent, allowing you to give 110% from when it kicks in to finish.
Mental drive
As powerful and fun as the energy in DVST8 Crimson is, it’s certainly not the only stimulating effect in the supplement. Inspired has also thrown in a heavy amount of focus, that’s just as noticeable as the energy. The focus kind of mixes in with the rather hardcore level of energy in Crimson, which ends up creating a very powerful mental drive.
The focus effect is actually a bit less clean and clear than it is in White Cut. As mentioned it comes off as more of a strong mental drive thanks to the infusion of the intense level of energy. You end up wanting to simply lift heavy and take as little rest as possible. The combination of the focus and energy creates a truly stimulant powered experience, although it does still allow you to feel in control.
Painful pump
The third and final effect in DVST8 Crimson is pump, which really completes the whole experience. While the energy makes sure your body has the power to lift heavy and hard, and the focus makes sure you’re pushing the weight and reps, the pump lets you feel each and every rep that little bit more.
Crimson has a real dense, vascular, mind to muscle type pump to it, that kind of plays into the focus effect. Much like how the energy and focus amplify one another resulting in an unstoppable type feeling. The focus and pump play off each other making for an addictive sensation where you can zero in on the muscles you’re working, squeeze them to the point of pain, and can’t help but enjoy it all.
Overall opinion
Just as Inspired described, DVST8 Crimson is a simple pre-workout supplement, especially compared to White Cut. It takes all of the major effects from the more complex DVST8 and wraps them up in a much more cost-effective product.
The only areas Crimson really lacks in compared to White Cut are performance and endurance. While the pre-workout does make you want to go balls to the wall the entire time, it doesn’t quite give you the ability to do so. If you decide to go a little heavier or at least try to maintain more than you’re used to, Crimson won’t keep your body refueled or recovered enough to tackle those sets as efficiently as White Cut does.
Crimson 45% cheaper
Since one of the biggest highlights of DVST8 Crimson is its price, it is worth going over just how much cheaper it is than White Cut. At the retailer Suppz, Crimson has a regular price of $35 for 25 maximum servings with one serving being what our review is based on, whereas White Cut is $50 for 20 maximum servings.
Crimson basically works out to $1.40 a workout, which is almost 45% cheaper than White Cut’s $2.50. Sales will of course make that price even better, although to make things fair we’re just comparing the pre-workouts’ regular prices.
