Last year we were lucky enough to be introduced to the European supplement company Got7 Nutrition, who has one of the most creative product lines we’ve come across. Both of the supplements we’ve reviewed from the brand were not disappointing, one of those items also turned out to be the best tasting protein chip on the market. This week we’re back with another Got7 review, and once again the brand has delivered.
The product we’ve recently got our hands on is the incredibly delicious Got7 Bahia Bar, which when we were first introduced to it we thought it was just a bigger version of the brand’s Rio Crunch. Basically it’s not a protein snack or anything like that, it seems to have simply been designed as a healthier chocolate treat.
What is the Bahia Bar?
The Got7 Bahia Bar isn’t high in protein, or overly high in fat, it’s a low, almost 100 calorie chocolate treat with only 1.4g of sugar. That number is based on just a pair of the supplement’s stuck together sticks, weighing in at a combined 21.5g, with a total of three individually wrapped pairs squeezed into each packet.
Just like a Kit Kat
Moving on to how the Bahia Bar actually tastes, this is where the biggest surprise of all comes from. The second you bite into one of the hard chocolate Bahia Bar sticks, you feel completely fooled. The more you eat and the closer you get to finishing a pair, you can’t help but think Got7 has taken a wafer Kit Kat bar and wrapped it in its own package.
There is really no difference in the sweet chocolate taste, between Got7’s Bahia Bar and the real deal, sugar-powered Kit Kat. In fact the overall experience is almost identical, except the Bahia Bar is slightly smaller in size, with the layered wafers on the inside being the ingredient that isn’t as prominent. Outside of the less wafery center, this product definitely makes you feel like you’re chowing down on something you shouldn’t, with the hard chocolate outer being the major highlight.
Less sugar, but still a treat
Despite tasting absolutely incredible and having less sugar than the likes of a Kit Kat, the most important thing to remember with this one is that you may still want to consider it a treat. When you compare it nutritionally to your traditional Kit Kat it actually has about the same amount of calories, with Bahia Bar at 100 to Kit Kat’s 109 in 21g. The difference is of course in the macros making up those calories as the Bahia Bar has a lot less sugar and 4g less fat.
Got7 delivers again
As mentioned in the beginning, Got7 has once again delivered with another top tasting supplement. The Bahia Bar is truly the closest thing we’ve ever had to a real world candy bar, so close in fact it could pass as one. It isn’t as good as a protein bar nutrition wise, but it certainly has a place in the market, being a product that sits in between sugar packed chocolate and healthy alternatives.
